La dott.ssa Francesca Coletti si è laureata in Archeologia Classica presso l’Università Sapienza di Roma. Grazie a diverse borse di studio nazionali e internazionali si è specializzata nel campo della diagnostica applicata ai manufatti organici e tessili, come anche nelle tecniche di tessitura e tintura artigianali. Nel 2020 consegue il dottorato di ricerca in cotutela presso l’Università Ruprecht Karl di Heidelberg e l’Università Sapienza con una tesi sui resti tessili d’area vesuviana e le impronte di indumenti sui calchi in gesso delle vittime di Pompei. Attualmente è cultrice della materia in Archeologia Classica e Museologia e Didattica del Museo presso l’Università Sapienza. Nel medesimo Ateneo, Coletti è titolare di un assegno di ricerca presso il dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità dedicato a vincitori del Seal of Excellence ottenuto nel 2023 nell’ambito del programma europeo MSCA Post-Doctoral Fellowship con una ricerca fortemente orientati alla diagnostica, valorizzazione e conservazione dei manufatti tessili e alla digitalizzazione del patrimonio tessile archeologico-storio e etnoantropologico. Dal 2018 Coletti insegna “Archeologia e Archeometria del Tessuto” al corso di Scienze della Moda e del Costume, presso il Dipartimento SARAS.

SCIENTIFIC PROFILE
Francesca Coletti graduated in Classical Archaeology at Sapienza University. Since 2013, she has obtained several national and international fellowships in microscopy and diagnostic techniques applied to textile remains in different preservation conditions, as well as in traditional weaving and dyeing techniques. In 2020, she received her PhD in co-tutorship at the Heidelberg and Sapienza Universities with a thesis focused on the fabric remains from the Vesuvian area and the textile imprints on the human plaster casts from Pompeii. She is currently assistant to the Chairs of Classical Archaeology (Prof M. Galli) and Museology (Prof. I. Baldriga) of Sapienza. Dr. Coletti is a Research Fellow at the Department of Science of Antiquity, dedicated to winners of the Seal of Excellence awarded in 2023 under the European MSCA Post-Doctoral Fellowship program, with research focused on diagnostics, enhancement and conservation of textile artefacts and the digitization of archaeological, historical, and ethnographic textiles. Since 2018, she has taught “Archaeology and Archaeometry of Textiles” in the Fashion Studies course at the SARAS Department.
