Study, analysis and conservation of heritage textiles. Technological analysis of weave types and yarns; decorative elements, like embroidery and metal threads. Fibre identification; application of non-invasive and non-destructive methods of analysis, like spectroscopic, multispectral, and microscopic techniques; application of destructive methods of analysis. For dye analysis and radiocarbon dating. Condition assessment, preventive and interventive methods of conservation, like humidification, cleaning and stabilisation, storage and display and packing for transportation. Teaching and lecturing in conservation, study and analysis of textiles.

2024-2027 TEXTile digitisAtIon tooLs and mEthodS for cultural heritage textiles TEXTaiLES, EU research program selected for funding (3.6 m euros) by the HORIZON-CL2-2023-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-02 – A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for digitising cultural heritage objects. It will develop methodologies for the digitization of textiles (3D costumes and clothing, ecclesiastical vestments, theatrical costumes, oversized textiles, excavated textiles, textile imprints).
